Compression
tools:
WinZip
The
de-facto standard compression utility for windows. I'll
be surprised as hell if you don't have this installed already,
but the link is here as a matter of courtesy... =)
WinRAR
This underappreciated compression program
is a must for some of the files hosted at the Staryards.
Similar to Winzip, it allows you to compress a file or directory
into multiple files (necessary when using Yahoo briefcase
as they have a 4 MB file size limit)
To use, Install Winrar and then
open the file with the RAR extention with it. Make sure
the numbered files are in the directory... they are part
of the compressed archive, but will open automatically when
you decompress the RAR file.
Starfleet Command

This
amazing utility makes it a breeze to modify and add ships
and their specs in SFC (this utility does NOT work in SFC

SHIPEDIT

This
amazing utility makes it a breeze to modify and add ships
and their specs in SFC II - empires at war (this utility

SHIPEDIT
V3.9 *** BETA ***
(for Starfleet Command : Orion Pirates)
This utility makes it a breeze to modify and add ships and
their specs in SFC: Orion Pirates (this utility does NOT
work in SFC I)
*** This beta REQUIRES a prior install of ShipEdit 3.02
in order to work properly. Please follow the instructions
in the read me. ***
This beta REQUIRES a prior install of ShipEdit 3.02 in order
to work properly. Please follow the instructions in the
read me. Be aware that this is a beta and as such may have
problems. It can work with SFC2 v 2.006 and later though
there are no limiters for the OP weapons and arcs when doing
so. Using OP weapons and arcs in SFC2 can result in unpredictable
behavior or crash the game. Be sure to back up all files
and remove the read only attributes prior to editing them.
SFC
MOD VIEWER
This is a really cool
tool that lets you view SFC mods without having to run SFC!
Great for checking out the ships before you install 'em.
SFCrewedit
(for Starfleet Command 1 ONLY)
SFCrew is a free Starfleet
Command campaign crew editor with the
following main features:
1. Advance crewmembers to legendary status.
2. Edit crewmember names.
3. Transfer crews from ship to ship.
3dsMAX
version 3 Plugin
Here
is the plugin, straight from taldren, that will allow you
to import and export your own MOD files if you own 3dsMAX
3! Includes documentation.
3dsMAX
version 4 Plugin
Same
as above, but for 3d studio MAX version 4
The
SCME Utility version 0.7 BETA
The SCME utility (from SFB to SFC) let's
you extract .lwo 3d models from an SFC .mod file. It also
lets you merge the edited .lwo file with the mod you took
it from - so, voila! New starfleet command model. SCME does
*not* support texture export, but can use existing .mod
file texture co-ordinates... see the readme for details
