STARFLEET COMMAND 3 QUESTIONS:
1. How do I get these new ships to work
with STARFLEET COMMAND 3?
2. How do I make my own Bridge Commander
ships, and what tools do I need to do so?
ANSWERS:
ANSWER 1: How
do I get these new ships to work with Starfleet Command 3?
*** NOTE: The following
explanation is a temporary one, and only deals with replacing
existing ships with different models in SFC3. Unfortunately,
it's kind of vague. For a really detailed SFC3 modding tutorial
by Chris Jones, that shows how to add new ships as well as
replace existing ones, click here.
1. Unzip the mod
2. Put it's folder under:
Starfleet Command 3/Assets/Models/
Remember your .mod must have the save name as
the folder it is in. So a Enterprise.mod would look like:
/Assets/Models/Enterprise/Enterprise.mod
(there should also be a .gf file that you created in there).
3. Open up the defaultloadout.txt
file in excel (or somewhere you feel comfortable editing it),
it is located in /Assets/Specs/
For each ship there is a UIName
column. Simply change the value for the ship you wish
to change, to the name of your .mod file
(Once again using Enterprise.mod as an example, you would
enter Enterprise in that cel).
4. Save the DefaultLoadout.txt
as a tabbed text file, and you are ready to rock!
The DefaultLoadout.txt is not CRC'd it's values
are verified, so you can change it and still play multiplayer.
If you make an Invalid ship, it will not show up in game,
but errors will be indicated in InvalidShips.txt located in
the games root directory.

detailed explanation of both replacing in-game ships and adding
new ones, download Brad Villa's' excellent SFC3 modding tutorial
document (in PDF format) here.
